You might be referring to the boat that I was associated with for a number of years.

It is a very early 30 racedeck originally built for an English owner who powered it (somewhat unsuccessfully with twin Cosworth Indy type V-8s. The subsequent owner re-powered it with small blocks and the current owner stuck in a couple of big blocks when the boat was restored (and painted blue) in 1997.

I was fortunate enough to throttle the boat from 2002-2006. The boat has been popular in England for years. Credit for the photo of the boat in its white livery goes to Graham (Flying Fish) Stevens.

That's it. I see your boat in your avatar (not to take over this thread), but is yours powered by express engines in Deland, FL and were you associated w/ a 32 cougar step V named logistics something? It also has one of Express' engines too...i think?

The parent company of our company (Reefer Racing) was Fuller's Logistics. The yellow single engine Velocity 32 was built in 97 and was our 97 race boat. It did corporate hospitality (which helped finance the race program from 98 - 2002 but came out of retirement briefly in 99 and won the Cowes Round the Island Race The Cougar was built for us by Steve and Pete in 98 and raced under Fuller's colors through 2003. It won the Cowes Classic in 98 and was the ProVee Euro Champion in 2002. The yellow Velocity was joined by our white 1996 twin engined Velocity (later converted to a single engine boat with an Express engine) to help with the corporate effort.

The yellow Velocity did indeed have an Express engine as did the Cougar. Bruce and John at Express built a number of engines for us and were always a pleasure to work with. I currently have an Express engine in my little Excalibur 24 here in Virginia.

Chase is a VERY cool boat. Looking forward to seeing it done!

Is this ad correct in saying there were only 3 built in 1980? If that is true, and Steve broke the 100mph barrier in one of them, chances are pretty good that one of us has the original ?!

Yeah, I suspect that 1) there were more built in 1980 and 2) the one that broke the record was s prototype or something...

Anyone?

After owning one of these for 15 yrs in my opinion this is the deck that Velocity should be making these days. I've never met anyone who didn't think these particular boats didn't look bad ass. Anyone else agree or disagree. I'm curious.

Here is a interesting story where the Velocity came from. This was posted on OSO back in 2006 by the owners of Mirage powerboats, Pops57.

[ That is true, the owner of Velocity purchased a 29' hull and deck from my father. He then copied it and sold it as a 30' Velocity!

The Velocity hull does look like a Mirage 29'ss... :party-smiley-004:
