Has anybody duplicated that velocity 30 475hpx2 100+ run? or even close. 475hp is a walk in the park these days. if a 30 velocity will run 100+ with 475hpx2 Then I need to hunt down a hull. (or were those stock 475 turbo engines more like 650hp).

With Todays Props & Drives you should be able to Top that speed easy. The Merc Turbo motors were probably 550ish but the turbo power curve probably let them run some agressive pitch props..

speed where ? river speed ? bay speed - calm ocean speed - 4 - 6 in the ocean ? I remember seeing a slug race with Gentry engines that never could break 60 mpg, but with ultra power - its flew ! - All depends on the length of the hull, sea or river conditions - wind etc. -
A fast boat in the bay is nothing off shore ! - I remember racing in 1972 - for the Production prize - against a 24 ft. twin engine V-8 powered Cigarette - it was faster than my 28 ft. Bertram, but from Brooklyn to
Point pleasant, in the middle of the afternoon when a south east wind picked up - he could not stay with me
because I had the length - even though he had plenty of speed and power !

32ft loa is my size limit, It seems they do fine in the rough. 30ft, 550hp per side to do 100mph seems like a good set up. plenty of boats in that size range won't even be close to that.

Speed is one thing in the rough, but how much poon will the Bertram get you compared to the cigarette? Just sayin.
Say whatever you want, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Velocity hulls are a good design that even though the are almost 35 years old are still one of the faster hulls out there. I have seen a 30 Velocity with twin 250 merc o/b run low 70s. That was a 32yr old boat. Pretty impressive.

Fast on Barnegat Bay wasn't fast in 4 to 6's or 2 to 4's or 1 to 3's
Who ever got to the Captains Inn 1st on Sunday got free drinks all day.
I think Spike was always there in the lead.
