far from home, no hull survey, no mecanical inspection data, not enough time to organize all this easily, makes buying tougher...

Back a couple years, i paid for 3 survey, on 3 different boats, that were all bad, owner did not want to pay the survey even if his boat was not as good as stated...

I'm done! next one I buy, seller will have to prove me his boat is good, and pay for it! hell, I paid over 1000$ and got nothing except wasting my time!

Good luck and let me know !
I know, I would not even have considered this boat if it was not local to me, the scarab I was considering in MI ended up with some fishy HIN stuff, guy said it was titled an 82 HIN said it was an 83, and he owned it for like 20 years and never bothered to check the title against the HIN??? So that was a big red flag for me.

I have talked to several people that know this boat, as well as the engine builder, and feel like it will be a nice boat It needs some cosmetic stuff, but all in all it is a solid boat. He has had it for sale for a year now, so I'm going in low with my offer and see what happens.

Zombie, I think you made the right choice. For the price of the Cigarette you cant lose. If it is an all original boat or an order restoration, your going to find problems like the seat bottom. Let us know what happens. I think a lot of us are sitting back in the chair with a beer in hand waiting on your response.

after really looking at this thing close, I am pretty sure its kevlar, no bracing in the bilge, and yellow lay up under the helm, does this make it any more desirable? We are about 5k apart from making a deal, and that is the only thing that has kept me in the negotiations.

5k is a long way apart on that boat in that range. Good luck.
