You need to have a paid membership to directly upload pics or you can host them on a photo sharing website.

A friend of mine at LOTO has a Hawk 40. Cool old school wave crushers.

The boat sat outside for 5 years because of a knock in one motor the motors were supposed to only have a few hours on the and they were right I have pulled the motors and have them in the shop tore down. 2 cylinders on the (bad) motor don't look like they ever fired. The motors were built by someone without the knowledge to change oil. I think they just tightened the rocker till the bottomed out. The cams were new voodoo marine grind but are trash now. I have all the new parts for the motors just waiting to get them back from being bored. Also I drained 75+ gallons of fuel out. I have ordered new impeller kits for the raw water pumps and have cleaned the bilge. The boat was painted right before the motor started knocking but faded really bad so I got interlux brightside paint and am going to try out the roll and tipping method I just need some warm weather. I have cleaned, sanded, and refinished the teak flooring and removed the windshield, polished the frame and had the glass tinted at a local shop. All of this and I have only had the boat 2 weeks and I work full time so I haven't slept a whole lots haha.

Looks like you upgraded to a Gold Membership so you should be able to post pics directly now.
Here is a thread with some hints/troubleshooting about attaching pics.

Thanks. I'm still having trouble with the uploading of pics but I will figure it out. Both of my sea strainer plastic tube were cracked I ordered some 4.5" OD x 6" acrylic tube online for $7. Each the replacement parts were $95. Each so do you think it will work? I don't mind spending money on something that deserves it but this just seemed unreasonable.

It is easier to upload pics with the Enhanced Attachment Uploading OFF.
Go to your Settings-My Account-General Settings and turn it off.
To post multiple pics(up to 10), use the Go Advanced box at the lower left of the Quick Reply.
Then click Manage Attachments. Then Choose File and upload any pic from your computer.

I have an 82 Hawk 40 and spent a lot of money trying to get her back going again.

whiskeyhangover 02-04-2016 05:25 AM

I have no idea why that picture posted sideways. Sorry

TxHawk 02-04-2016 08:21 AM

Great looking 40!

Here is some inspiration to get it going.

I know the subject about kevlar has been beaten to death but did wellcraft ever make the hawk in kevlar? I thought they were all glass? Mine appears to be kevlar lower hull with a glass upper? What kind of speed should I be hoping for? I should have around 500hp at the cranks and I have trs drives with so 20 x 15 four blade props my title says 8000lbs

Excalibur40 02-04-2016 08:38 AM

Sorry SS props. For the record I'm not an idiot but my phone makes me type like one so please forgive the mis spelling and grammar. Also you all have beautiful boats I'm just hoping to have one that floats haha

this was the boat 5 years ago I have never seen paint fade so bad. They used house of kolor.

TxHawk 02-04-2016 08:43 AM

Real 500 HP will probably push it 65 on the best day. It may like some newer bravo style props vs. the clevers.

Excalibur40 02-04-2016 08:45 AM

Thanks that's about what I thought. Is kinda a shame because I had a 19' Hammond with a 383 that would go faster.

Excalibur40 02-04-2016 08:51 AM

O sorry I should have been more specific mine aren't cleaners they are 20 x 15 stainless round ears

You're going to have to do the ceremony to change the name or it's bad juju!

Also....19' might have been faster, but not in 3' swells!!! :cool-smiley-011:

Excalibur40 02-04-2016 03:01 PM

Haha I know but my woman hates the name haha. More than double the horse power means double the top speed right? Just kidding but it would be nice.

caseyh 02-04-2016 04:47 PM

Good looking boat. That's crazy from Orange to almost white.

It is crazy I'm a painter and I have never seen anything fade so bad in 5 year or even longer. I'm working on cleaning up the drives and painting them with a single stage enamel with hardener I have decreased them, sanded them, spot primed as kinda a guide coat. I also ordered new decal kits for them. I'm going to just change the oil in them and cross my fingers. The oil in them looked ok and no water so I'm hopeful.

I would leave it faded until you can seal prime and paint. The roll and tip on top side decks works good but a real trick on hillsides. Especially on unprimed smooth vertical surfaces. I lost count how many great old school boats I've seen with that name. I think it comes from high geographic areas where massive amounts of home made alcohol cause very deep sleep and the out house is located deep in the woods.

Excalibur40 02-04-2016 06:31 PM

Yeah the idea is to get this thing in the water on my tight budget but I have had 8 boats and never finished in the budget or the timeline. Anyone know where I can find some front pins for the trs dives. The ones that hold the trim rams. The one's on it had washers welded to one side and a hole drilled on the other side with a bent nail holding them in.

hi were did you find the weight on the title i dont see that on mine.

Excalibur40 02-05-2016 08:44 AM

I will post a pic of it when I get home. So does anyone know it wellcraft used kevlar in the hawk? Mine is a gold colored woven mesh on the hull and sounds like a drum when you hit it but the top cap is fiberglass I believe.

Haha!!! He said "BUDGET" and "BOAT" in the same sentence!!! hahaha!

Excalibur40 02-05-2016 11:59 AM

Haha I hear you. Really I bought this boat as an "investment" if my math is right I can put a million hours labor and all of my money I have and will have for the next 2 years and then sell it for what I paid for it when I bought it lol but if Craigslist is right it just needs a little love... maybe what them mean by that is the boat will f#$@ you really good and hard the whole time you own it. O well, that's why we do it right?

TGC-32 02-05-2016 04:18 PM

That 40' Excalibur is WAY more than 8,000 lbs. probably closer to 11,000.
