firstly, been on the water for 45 years and never owned a boat that went over 55. I primarily run in Georgian bay/lake Huron and have always owned boats, currently I own 15 whaler, 18 whaler, 22 wind and a 32 coronet (I live on a water access only island). I've got a bug to go fast and want to find/build a 24 just to play in. I've read all the posts I can on the 24 cig and 24/5 martini and am at a loss. what is the better boat to start with.
im not really concerned with cosmetics and am only building for myself so not thinking about passengers.
im pretty green to the whole performance world and there seems to be so much intellect here that id love an advice on where to start.
all help appreciated.
thanks, will

He has a Martini and a Challenger in the back. Not sure if either are for sale but you can enquire. He also has an older 28 Cig in very nice shape but with dry pipes, it's loud. A conversation with him will usually reveal how knowledgable he is and even more so, how passionate he is about this game. Ask for Adam

I have a 24 cigarette and a 24 martini in my immediate area, really im just trying to figure out what the best boat to start with is, im leaning toward the cigarette but my understanding is I need a lot more power to get speed out of it.
is the cigarette really that much slower with the same power?

I'm not familiar with the martini so I can't really compare. The cig however is a great boat. I have a 24 and it has been perfect for what I do with it (primarily inland lake). Ride quality is real good; it's just a solid boat in the typical washing machine of waves you find on inland lakes. Area below deck is limited so overnighting might be a challenge. Not sure what speed your looking for, but it's not too hard to get them into the mid-70's. I may also be a bit biased, but I think the cigs look cool as hell too! Good luck with your decision. What are the details on the 24 your looking at?

The martini is a "24x7" boat which is probably the most copied "splashed" boat of all time and for good reason. Its a better design than the wider ciggie. Having said that...anything with a "CRT" hull id is worth more if properly restored.

I don't have experience with the Martini. I do have a 24 Cig. I suspect the 10" narrower beam of the Martini would give it a speed edge, other things being equal. I like the roomier cockpit of the Cig. I think choosing would depend on what's most important to you. Best of luck with your buying.

I had a 25' 1979 Martini that rode like a dream. My memory is that it was a 25 degree hull. I should never have sold it, but I got a cored hull 28' Warlock Offshore to take its place. You would probably be happy with the Martini.
