At Hellkats Powerboats we are about to start the rebuild of this 42’ Comanche, originally the “Team Prime” boat. This boat originally had triple 1200hp engines and M6 drives, capable of 125mph speeds. The work on this rebuild actually began around a decade ago when the previous owner of the hull took it to McManus at Apache. The goal with the project back then and now is to rebuild the classic hull as an outboard powered boat. The Apache team cut the hull sides down about a foot to give the hull a lower profile. They also reworked the layout of the stringers and bulkheads, added a center fuel tank, new transom knees, and a bracket out back to mount the outboards to. The composites of the hull is in good condition, it's an all kevlar/carbon boat but despite that it is not light by today's standards. The boat has wood core for the stringers, bulkheads, and transom, but the main hull is solid laminate with no core. The transom is unbelievably stout, starting from the outside in there is about 1” of solid laminate, then is about 1-¾” of wood core, then about ¼” of laminate on the inside. The hull sides are about ½” of solid laminate.

We will be adding a fiberglass/epoxy vacuum infused flat deck, liner, windshield receiver, dash, console, and six bucket seats to the boat. The seating will be arranged in three rows of two and there will be hatches behind the seating compartment, we expect to fit a cooler in the center and a storage hatch to either side. Behind the hatch compartments there will be bilge access.
