interesting you mention that. over the last few years the manufacturers have backed of on the "recomended" amount of reducer to use to keep the "as sprayed" VOC's down. you still need it but they couldnt list it in the directions or else it would no longer be compliant. actually you didnt screw up you were just a bit misled by Dupont.

Thats right Dave. It seems that as the voc's go down often does the sprayability, and at times the quality with it. Thats why practicly all of our clearcoats are "high solids" now. And why the vast majority of painters are spraying with HVLP guns. You just have to be carefull about putting to much reducer in some of these paints that do not call for it. However I wouldn't be afraid to reduce that imron a little bit. You also have to watch some of these paints that do not require reducer, and see if they offer a couple differant types of activator. Sometimes they offer them in differant temps.

kinda feels like we have been left to figure it out for our selves on some products. some stuff just takes experiance to get ya through it luckily we can share that here and help out sometimes.

Scott, what are you spraying with now and what products? i spray mostly PPG's DBC bases with 2021 clear. gun i use is devilbus GTI and a Plus gun for clear although i dont use the Plus gun for the bigger boats because its rather ineficient (non-HVLP) but it does spray nice. most of my work is on larger boats, not to many cars for me anymore

Any time Dave. We are spraying the same stuff. 90% of what I spray is 2021 over DBC base. (good product) With the acasonal use of some House of Kolor. It helps to have all the mixing equpment in house for the PPG stuff. I mostly use my SATA Jet RP with a 1.4 It works really well for me and sprays a nice pattern. I also use a Binks M1G that I love, but it got to where It wasn't spraying as nice of a pattern as my SATA.
Here is a pic. of my Pantera it is listed in the classifieds.
Also another project I recently finished. 37 ford coupe 2004 streetrod Nats in Louisville kY ( Indoors in PPG's Booth )
Talk to you later, Scott

I will check tonight. The trailer came out perfect and nice shine and smooth. The boat has a slight orange peel to it. I noticed while searching for engine parts in the garage I still have the old cans of imron.

nice look'in pantera DC. i have seen that before on here. finally somthing different i like the palm trees. sounds like we spray the same stuff. i use the occasional House of Color stuff when i need a certain color but 2021 is my main clear. i have heard good things about the SATA gun but haven't got to try it yet. there is a SATA dealer/rep on the board that has offered one to me to demo but i haven't had the chance to take him up on it yet. i'll hafta look up his screen name and try it sometime. i am building a new race boat for myself right now and that may hafta be the test piece

hows it go'n Art i hope you are keeping everybody in line around here. i have been off line for a few days out on the boat
