Best advice I have ever heard. "If you want a faster boat, buy it."

The thousands you spend to pick up a couple miles per hour would go a long way towards changing boats and gaining 20 mph. Been there, done that....

i had a fountain fever 27 502 with a pro charger and it would run 82 top end easy. Had about a season and a half. Never had a issue with it. Fast as hell.

I don't know about that... Most of the people on here need aftermarket crap to go faster. I would rather bolt my own parts on my boat, and know its history than buy something that someone else hacked together.

It just don't look right having an ugly ol' campertop jetboat whooping a performance boat like a Fountain .
Am I best to go with a new engine & drive combo or can the 502 and bravo 1 be upgraded and still be reliable ?
I get so many differing opinions from friends that I'm not sure what to do . Ultimately I would like to find the best setup for the 27' Fever , to get it up in the mid to high 70's or better .
Lots of factors to consider when going past 70 mph and added HP, reliability is key. Stock Bravo will be your week point for sure as well as your base engine components, Raylar kits are very good as well as a whipple install, keep in mind added external steering will be a must as well as a good exhaust, all high dollar parts so need to do your homework on existing 27's and what set-ups they are running for comparison to match your end expectations. If 80 is your goal then see what it takes to run your hull at those speeds reliably and safely and do your research before you start the grocery cart method, JMHO.

8luglogic, Why do you care if some guy in a John boat goes faster than you ?????Nobody looks at his boat ,they look at your Fountain going by...The guy probably weighs a third less than you, has a flat bottom and is shorter than your boat... you also have to push a 24degree hull around. Ask your pal to come out and play when there is a three or four ft. chop----see what happens then!!!!
Last but not least you better have a truck load of money to sink in the boat if you want to go faster.. Jim

Well it just don't look right having a riverboat pass a Fountain .
He's a buddy and he's gave me a bad time about my Fountain for years .The Fountain being a performance boat and not being able to school a small block jetboat just looks bad .
So ... If I decide to drop a pile of cash in to this thing what is the best and most reliable way to hit 80mph . What drive will work best and hold together ? I think I'll keep my existing 502 & Bravo1 for when I decide to sell the boat . I may bump up to a 29' Fever one day .

I'd get a super charger before I got a new wheel... Get a prop to match your power, don't get a prop and then power up...
