Anyway to test it? Would a "regular" automotive solenoid work? What would cause it to only act up when it was cold?

Thanks

Great! Anyone have a part number?

I looked online and the ones I could find on Ebay looked just like regular automotive style remote solenoids, could I just use one of those? Or are the marine/Merc ones different?

Thanks!
Michael

I had similar starter issues. It was the wire going to the slave solenoid. In the main engine harness connection towards the back of the motor. Had to cut the wires and connect them outside of the big connector.

had the same intermittent problem with my '90 454 bravo1 baja before a 3 year stringer rebuild. so last year i tracked it down to the slave solenoid also. I just replaced it with a 12 volt solenoid from murrays auto, with the same wire posts on it, but I had to cut the bracket on the solenoid because its mounting holes where father apart.

how ever a freind of mine had a 350 with an alpha 1 and his whole engine would cut out on the lake, his issues was the throttle/shifter cable rubbed thru and ground out his nuetral saftey switch or something like that.
