I am tossing a fair amount if wet sounds in my boat this winter. 6 6.5's, 2 8's and a 12 inch sub all with wet sounds amps.... I'm have high hopes for there performance. My local Nauteque dealer just became a dealer for wet sounds I went and hooked up 1 6.5 in a 5 gallon bucket..... It was unreal!! If anyone wants wet sounds I can get you in touch with the place they will ship whatever you want. PM me. There price is not as bad assist think

Hit one of the boat shows.
Mastercraft is JL.
Tige and Crownline (yes, really!) are Wet Sounds.
I spent 30 min talking to the Tige dealer last night. He said they had a boat with 8" RF and the owner wanted more so he could hear while propped up driving over the windshield. They added two 8" WS in the bow. He said the WS were almost overpowering the 4 RF in the cockpit, Owner was very happy with the increased sound.
I was a little surprised that it made that much difference since I thought the 8" RF sounded pretty good on a friend's cruiser install. Amps do have a significant influence but conversation changed before going into that much detail.
It was Thursday night and place was pretty dead, I should have asked him to turn up the Tige ASR's system. 6 WS 8" in boat, 1 pair each 8" and 10" on the tower.
I will say their single 10" WS sealed sub sounds much better than the sissy free air JL 10" Mastercraft uses.
I personally run 2 WS 485 towers and 4 6.5" Bullet HollowPoints in-boat. Love the power handling and durability of WS.
Both JL and WS are top notch. JL will be a "flatter" more accurate response, WS will be louder and handle extended high play better. If you are an audio snob that peacfully listens to jazz and acoustic alone on the hook, get JL. If you enjoy rock, country, pop etc, like to have a good time, drink and hear music over wind noise - get WS.
If you are not salt water, consider ARC audio who makes WetSounds amps. ARC is car audio so their boards are not coated like WS spec's.

Any woofer in a sealed box will blow away a free air woofer. It is not the woofer - it's the box that makes a woofer perform.

My comment was primarily a slam on boat mfg like Mastercraft that still insist on installing sub par sound in a boat that most buyers expect to have better sound than a free air can produce.
Tige has stepped up to a sealed box and innovative marine audio manufacturer. My original point however was to suggest a source that someone could demo both speaker brands IN THE ENVIRONMENT they will be used to hear the differences as close to head to head as most can get.
Beyond that however, head to head, in a box; WS will still outperform JL marine to most people's ears on the water.
Life is about compromises. JL is very accurate at the expense of some volume. Other brands like WS, RF, Kicker etc still produce a quality product but tweak it to get the most sound out of a reasonable response range ("reasonable" being subjective).
Then there are the budget producers that make too many compromises and "you get what you pay for" rings true.

I have two ARC audio 12 inch subs, the things are absolutely incredible.I have never heard a better sub in a boat. I have friends who are in love with their JL subs and don't sound as good. I hadn't considered the rest of their line, I might ask my dealer if they have anything I can listen to.

stiliberator, I'm not far from you. I'll PM you my number, I've got Wet Sounds in stock, and a little Arc Audio!
Anyone in the Western KY, Southern IL, Southeast MO, and North TN area that needs Wet Sounds, I'm not far away.
