If you don't have one, I assume you have a small block currently with no cooler?

Do you have a small cooler on it now? A tube type one? You need to choose one that you are going to be able to mount and plumb best with your engine setup. If you already have a tube type then replacing with a larger tube type would work best. They have dual cooler ones also for your oil and power steering. As for the thermostat, is your oil filter the stock block mounted or a remote mount? Earls makes a nice billet sandwich adapter with thermostat for use with a block mounted filter. They also make a in line thermostat you plumb in for use with a remote oil filter.
