It is time to order timing set, comp 7101 seems perfect. ZZ502 camshaft has 110 lope and 108icl, so it is only 2 degrees advanced. Did some valve timing calculations with different ICL choices and compared the results to crane 731 and HP500 carb camshaft. here is what it looks like @.050.
Not sure but with 104icl the ZZ502 cam would work with silent choice system.

Lobe centerline does not really tell that story.
BTW? Merc Racing installs their Crane cams 5 degrees advanced from straight up.
Meaning a 112LSA straight up would be 112/112. 4 degrees advanced would be 108ICL/116ECL. 5 would be 107ICL/117ECL.

Correct! hp500 cam is 5* anvanced .I have no idea where merc sets ICL in hp500 engine, i would also like to know that, maybe someone can confirm this. Calculations are based to the ICL that is found from the cam card. My understanding and writing english aint so good. Hope this makes sense!

[QUOTE=SB;4717438]Is it the intake opening BTDC angle or exhaust closing ATDC angle that is more important when trying to fight off reversion ?
[QUOTE]
Good question, i think the exhaust closing is more important, to be honest i dont know just trying to learn something here.

HP500 LSA = 110 right ?
So, LSA 110 installed neutral = 110ICL/110ECL
If installed 5* advanced from 110ICL/110ECL will put ICL at 105* and ECL 115*.

IVO=4*btdc
IVC=40*abdc
EVO=49*bbdc
EVC=5*atdc
I was about set the ICL to 104*
IVO=8*btdc
IVC=36*abdc
EVO=53*bbdc

Finally found GM 7416 forged crank, What bearings i should use Clevite P or H? rods are scat replacements for gm dimble rod. One more thing that i am little bit confused is the bypas valves in the filter pad (mark block VI), going to install my filter straight to the block without remote system and install oil cooler to cooler fittings in the block, should i replace both bypas valves to 30psi or what?
