This is how I set mine up. Similar to Rookie’s.

Filter heads on yours will be an issue to deal with.
|
ahhhh,,,like it..someone with similiat set up..
what brand to you have here TOMZ and comment on my filter head??? thanks... think i am going to just forget about existing cooler,,will never get it out..screw it,,just add new one across back of motor thanks... |
I made the bracket out of 1/4-inch plate. The cooler is an older CP Performance piece with a built-in thermostat. It’s soec’d to handle 700 hp. The tube brackets are also from CP Performance.
Regarding your filter heads, I guess you could OffshoreOnly the cooler a good amount to keep the end of the cooler away from the filter. I wanted it centered on mine. As seen in the pic, I used an HP4 filter head that sets the filter up vertical. It all fits together really well. But I’ve seen others where the cooler is greatly offset. I didn’t have the room to do that with my boat. |
hey tomz...
maybe i can move my oil filter.......... but where https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...5709e08576.jpg is your trans cooler??? mine was all plumbed together in straight line mounted to stringer,,,worked great till now,,and i honestly dont think i can get coolers out,,without pulling motor. have to look at it more.....old photo old cooler,,but same location.. thanks...... |
You might be able to get them out after taking off the inboard exhaust but it will be a tight, holy hell cussing event (if I was it doing anyway).
I run my trans cooler in-line on the engines. First stop after the water pump is the trans cooler then onto the oil cooler. They’re oversized but fit on the side of the engine, barely. I’m surprised the cooler let go. Can you pressure test in the boat? |
how would i do that???
this all started winterizeing freshway side,,when i took hose off my crank driven water pump,,,oil came out,,about 1/4 cup..maybe 1/2 cup... checked motor and motor in motor was real good and clean as i had just changed oil month prior.. and do you see how crazy fit my engine area is??? man which i had staggered motors.. |
You can make adapters to hook to your oil likes to be able to put air pressure to it with a leak down tester. I know it’s tight in there. I have the very same issues.
