Hey Baja/Donzidream,
My first Donzi was a 97, 27ZX, one thing I would have liked on that boat was trim tab indicator guages. Not sure where you could put them on your dash, It is nice to know where they are at instead of guessing. Great looking boat! Mark |
Mark, you are right about the tab indicator. This 27 zr is the first boat from Donzi with the new changes that they will be using. And it doesn't have any type of indicator, my baja had the livorsi led indicators. All I see is the trim gauge. My boat should have the mechanical indicators just like the larger zr boats. Going off what I have seen on prior 27s the indicator will be mounted in the spot where the trim gauge is.

Tell your dealer that you want the livorsi trim tab gauges, the 27ZR use to have that option with K-Planes its a must, make sure you are getting K-Planes not custom plates. I would not k-Planes without an indicator especilly with the blue motor, you make the wrong move with Ks and you will roll. Also Corsa does make Quick and Quiet for 525s they don't use them on the staggered motors because of the custom pipes so they go with Teague switchable exhaust. Best of luck also ask Jerry from Donzi to give you a rendering of your boat, he is amazing on a computer and is very friendly.
|
I will will have to look into the issue of indicators with the k-planes. The option on the build sheet is listed as 150 k-planes. Although the other boat that Donzi has built withe the 525 engine had k-planes had indicators on the dash in place of the drive trim gauge.
As far as the rendering of the graphics goes. I am dealing with the regional sales rep, so I don't know who is actually make the rendering. |
Thanks for posting those photos. I do not see much difference in the helm except for the new foot rests. I like the head room in the cabin and I am undecided on the cooler thing. I see they got away from the flush mounted and caulked nav light on the bow (THANK GOD) the new ones look real good!
Good luck with the new boat. I am really excited to see your boat come together. |
The only real change to the helm is they used a carbon fiber panel rather than the plain black panel. And the gauges are coming standard with a chrome bezel.
I was told that the boat goes into production today, so the rendering of the graphics should come in any day now. I asked if they could take pictures of the boat every few days so I could post pictures of the process. I have not gotten word if Donzi will be able to do that for me. |
For that much coin, in this economy they better if they know whats good for them.
|
Just wanted to let everyone know that I got my user name changed for all those that were giving me a hard time. Sorry that I couldn't come up with anything more creative.

This is a picture of the 150. The difference between the standard k-planes is the lengths of the tab, the other dimensions are the about the same.
|
that name is great ! welcome hope everything works out for you! DONZI GREAT BOAT GREAT COMPANY ! I have had 7 built and bought 1 used Good lucki

The update I got yesterday, is that Craig Barrie is working on the rendering and the boat should have gone into production this week.
|
Are they going to document the progress for you?
|
Asked if they could take pictures every few days for me, but I have not gotten a response.
|
The production date got pushed back up to two weeks. Donzi has sold more boats than expected at boat shows. They have orders for 4 27 ZRs and mine is the second in line.

Ditto! Sorry about that Andy but glad to hear Donzi is selling boats! I'm on Donzi #4 & I would hate to see them go anywhere!
J |
what do you think a 2009 27zr could be bought for with a 496 ho? 80-85k?
|
I would say that 85 to 90 would be a better bet, but give Scott at shipyard marine a call 920-232-9500. Scott will give you a real good price on a 27 ZR. Grand Sport has a demo left over 27 ZR with a few hours, and they are asking 69.

The hulls are the same, the differences are in the cabin and cockit, also the vents on the engine hatch. The big changes are in cabin head room, and the headrests on the rear bench are gone. I did hear that they may be adjusting the drive height.

definitely an improvement, those scoops look great! so does the potty cover and stainless shifter!
|
Potty cover & stainless/billet shifter are on the old version.
J |
The potty cover gives the cabin an unfinished look. Also those black throtles are not nearly as flashy. Is this what thy had to do to keep costs down?
|
I am not really sure if the black throttle and shifter is something they did just for the Miami boat show. I would have to guess that it was. And I would also guess that the production boat would have some sort or cover over the front of the porta potty.
|
Still waiting for a production date.

Andy this is VERY disapointing to me. Please do not take this the wrong way but YOU ARE BEING POORLY TREATED!!! Take a look at this thread... http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ml#post2823315 On 3/9 it is posted that a 288 XRT has been sold. This is a boat that is not even in production and it is due for delivery the end of april. Remember Sunsationis not a producton boat company. Have you even seen the graphics package you have been waitong for? If not I would get my money back and move on to a Sunsation (or a boat company that wants your business). Clearly Donzi does not have their act together for custom orders. Remember Sunsation will take photos of the process and give you tours of the plant any day of the week. I am sad to say this because I like the boat and I really was excited to see this come together but "CUT YOUR LOSSES AND MOVE ON!" If Sunsaton is not your cup of tea, Bananna boat is starting productio on 28's and Sutphen Performance group will be breaking ground on their 277 soon as well and they are both very accessible on this site and on the phone. Think about it. Peace, Rob |
2/20 Andy stroked the announcement on this boat and here we are a month later adn not even a bare hull to speak of. BS!!
|
here you go if you want a 27 ZR I just found this, 2007 27ZR, $64,000

No, I am currently boatless. I am paying off a few bills so I can afford what I want rather than buy what I can afford now.
I just see how this deal is going and I feel bad for Andy. I put myself in his positon and I would move on to a company that wants to take care of me. Andy seems to be a reasonable person, he deserves a reasonable answer to when his boat will be built and delivered. |
