Default XR Drive

Hi, I'm new to this group and have a question re: XR drive, I have a Cobalt with 502 & ProCharger, Procharger say's 700hp
I just tore up the upper gear box and I'm thinking about changing it over to a XR instead of fixing the Bravo1. Is this a straight bolt on or do any mods need to be made, also what should I expect to pay for the XR and what if I did repair the Bravo 1 what should the approx cost be for the upper gear box? I think the people who are looking at it are quoting way to much.
TIA
Mark

Default XR Rebuild

I just had 2 XR's rebuilt, new upper gearsets, bearings and seals. Cost me about $4,500 a side labor and parts.

Delta,
Depending on the condition of your B1 upper, XR gears and steel towers can be installed. It gets close to the price of some of the XR upper deals. I build the drives myself, and use certain setup techniques and parts that make a solid piece when it is done. I have seen the bargin XR uppers with problems. If you like, PM and I can give you a better idea of the mouse trap I build for people. Or give me a call to discuss it.. 616-403-1006..

If you do install an XR upper, the gimble bearing kit needs to be installed to limit travel on the drive. Depending on what input shaft is used on the new XR upper. If you convert your B1 to XR, that problem can be eliminated, if your input shaft is good.

Hope this helps.

Mr. Gadgets,
Thanks, I would like to know more about your drive set up. I would like to rebuild the whole drive and upgrade what ever I can. Unfortunately it looks like your at the other end of the country from me, but I'm sure I could UPS it or something. What kind of money are we talking about and how long would it take?
Thanks

Delta,
Give me a call, that is the best way to zero in on what you might want to shoot for the end result, then I can write up an estimate to get a better idea of the cost. I hate to speculate about building something and not discuss all the options that are on the table.
This business is a side business for me, so I take a bit longer than some, but as someone once said. "I dont lower my prices, or rush the job, because others dont match the quality." or something like that..
Depending on what you want done, and parts availablity, I can turn them around in a couple of weeks, then there is shipping on each side of that.
