Default No Shift?

Hello, I have a Scarab with 454's and trs drive. The other day when i was docking, the port side engine would no go into reverse. It would go into neutral and foward, but when the trottle was pulled back to reverse, nothing would happen.

There was no clunking, or anything of that nature...I though the cable mught be shot, but when it was shifted the cable moves in full rotation on the transmission.

Why would it go into forward and netreul, but won;t engage in reverse??

Different clutches for reverse. Sounds like you may need to pull it. Reverse isn't as tough as forward. Check fluid, find a trannie guy.

Has the linkage been checked for correct adjustment?

If its a borg warner, you can disconnect the cable at the trans. The linkage on the trans has detents f-n-r. You can try to see if cable matches the detent in reverse. Good luck.
