Bmax is a bolt on swap. The Konrad conversion is more involved. If you do the Konrad ACE swap-yes the engine must removed but it doesn't get moved forward because the transmission is placed in the extension box. you also must perform changes to your transom-(larger hole for drive and transmission).

How much work is involved in switching over from an XR to say a bmax or konrad....I guess the whole gimble assembly have to be replaced with that of a b max or konrad...can it (or will it) create any issues with the placement of the hydraulic steering....just curious how much work it is to move from an XR to something a little bigger. Is it something the pro's can do in a day?

It is not necessary to change the gimble, although it may not be a bad idea. I did not. The installation after drilling for steering was no longer than a Bravo swap.

Once per season is way, way, too many. Trust me. No need to learn it for yourself. I've broken a drive every season for the last 4 seasons, and I'm fully disgusted with it, after only breaking one in the previous 20 years with properly balanced setups. It's no damn fun if you like to go boating on your weekends, and not give excusses on why you are not.....:)

Max Machine Drives

I have a set of Max upper and lower with 1:50 ratio on my 01 Top Gun. 725hp, 700 plus torque. Running 32 five blade Maximus props, funny how people either love or hate these props, but I tried most all the others, and these are perfect for my boat, Im turning them in and the rpm is 5600. 101.4 on the GPS, it handles great, little tough around the docks. The Max drives have 40hrs so far( a season in Michigan) and no failures. Im careful with them though, I dont like breaking stuff. Ive seen lots of guys with this kind of stuff and they are crazy with the throttles and the air time. Just have to get their wallets out !

I've seen some sort of remote resevoir drive oil cooler advertised (can't remember who, Hardin, Dana, Eddie?). Anyone ever try one?

Yes. I'm going to most likely run 32 pitch Maximus's. I had a pair that I tried and they worked the best.

What RPM are your trying to pull with those?

I guessing on mine it would be 28maximus 1.30 at 59-6000rpm
