Default Bravo I Bellows

I'm currently replacing my driveshaft bellows. The Merc manual tells me to use an adhesive at the transom end. When I removed the old bellows I didn't notice any from the factory. I've also heard that the adhesive can cause to slip off the transom assy.,........Thoughts?.....Opinions?
