Superbabi-no intent to thread hijack....
Nova- here are the zoomers pre installation... pretty nice pieces.
The fins dont rotate they are fixed and they are welded at the connection point. They actually look flow onstructive in this pict but really arent - the width you are seeing is the "pitch" of blade.

If Teague really does have custom parts he claims- that might be a differentiator. He builds well over 100 engines and drives a year and is a highly respected contributor to our sport.

I believe that the Teague Platinum drive is an XR upper with a steel tower insert, and an IMCO lower. It uses the IMCO horizontal shaft, and IMCO lower bearing carrier.
The parts are hand matched, and tolerances are watched over very carefully.
It is a very carefully assembled drive.
BUT.... the weak link is still the stock XR gears!
It is basically an very well assembled XR with IMCO parts thrown in.
If you throw over about 750 hp at it and drop slip much below 12%, with just about any good 5 blade, and it is going to go bye-bye.
I have seen this several times.
Just my opinion,
Chris
P.S. I am not saying that my IMCO SC drive is any better or stronger. Stronger = SCX drive, or NXT drive, or #6, or possibly Konrad

Teague claims he doesnt use stock XR gears.
(Next time I drive to Teague Ill ask the man face to face should be interesting to hear what he says.) I need to pick up a few props in a couple of weeks.

That would be great if it were true.
I was told by IMCO that both they and Teague hand match their gears from stock sets.
The gears have been the limiting factor on all of the XR based drives.
Max Machine does some cryo work on them, or heat treating, to try to make them stronger, as do others. But they are still just modified stock gears.
It is my understanding that no one has come up with a better/longer lasting/ stronger, set of gears for our outdrives as of this date.
I have called just about everyone I can find on this issue in the last couple of weeks.

It would be great , Im skeptical as well.
It may make sense for a rebuilder to try to cryo or heat treat a set of these before putting a drive together to see what happens.
Teague and Imco have a great relationship- makes sense they would share parts. I've had good luck with all my Imco stuff as well.
Should be interesting to hear what the man tells me. (Im secretly hoping to get a tour of the shop)
