IMCO SCX failures ??

I am thinking about trading in my IMCO SC upper for an SCX upper in anticipation of an upgrade in power to about 875 horsepower in my 28' Nordic Heat.

Does anyone have any experience or has had or seen proplems with an SCX?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I would like to know that same thing.

The only "problem" Ive heard really isnt and its from the LaveyCraft guys is that it takes a LOT of power to turn that drive.

Replaced my Teaque with an SCX. No problems and no loss of RPMS or speed.

Dave,

I have heard quite the opposite. Of the two guys I know that have switched from XR drives, one had the same rpm and speed, and the other was 1 mph faster. I think this might be because of the additional weight of the upper, reducing his prop slip by some margin by pushing the prop a little lower in the water.

Interesting, I wonder if anyones dyno spun it?

At this point Im living vicariously through you and your mods!

Im hoping you do it, I may be next depending on what Kap find out about the Xpower. Although I suspect that moves the failure point from breaking drives to breaking transom assemblies.

LOVE to see some one as thorough as you test this.

The thing that I have heard is, the hot ticket seems to be the SCX upper, with the SC lower. Note I have no personal experience with either.

I have heard the same, the SC lower is faster. I also am going to need a change and have been looking at the SCX upper I will need it in a -3 style for my -3 lower.

The SCX upper will not mate to a -3 lower. The upper case is a one piece unit.

I know its one piece. Are you saying they do not make a upper to go with there -3 lower? Like the SC extreme they make an upper to mate to there -3 lower. I will have to call them in the morning.
Thanks

Don
