I don't know, but every time I've broken a part in a drive it has been under 3500 RPM. Shafts, gears, whatever it breaks under 3500 RPM for me. It may have to do with harmonics or the torque of the motors at that RPM. Whatever it is, that sh!t needs to stop!

When I broke the case on mine like that,
it was around 3500 rpm.

About a year after that, on a brand new XR
upper, the cone decided it didn't want to be
connected to the driven gear anymore,
( crack developed between gear teeth,
worked it's way upward, cone sheared off of gear)

This happened at wide open...thank God for rev limiters.

This year at the Shootout, propshaft breaks inside
driven gear @ WOT....again, thank God for rev limiters.

2 months later, vertical driveshaft breaks right
above the pinion gear, inside the bearing race
@ WOT.....once again, thank God for rev limiters.

Wonder what 2010 has in store for me ?

Why? IMCO has the SCX which is really supposed to be a great drive.
You, me & JT should get a good price on buying 6 of them.
I wonder if we can combine your & my dealer discounts to get double the discount?

The SCX won't fit the ITS? That sucks.

Yeas I have had a similar breakage.

2010 has an SXC in store for me.

Id love to be able to afford or make an arneson work.
An Ilmor Indy would be killer, but small stepped v dont seem to "like" clevers.

But the SCX is more likely the route that will work best for me.

Im done with this noise.

Ill continue to use my bravo xr stuff on my 21ft tunnell- but not my ocean boat.

Too much at stake- I cross super heavy shipping lanes all the time in all kinds of conditions.

I blew a bravo XR at 8 hours - lost a tooth - snapped the shaft. Same deal. I was luckily out of the commercial lanes 5-7 miles out without much going on.
