How much would the Arneson set me back?

What I've seen for twins is about $40k. Transmissions, boxes, drives, hydraulics & propellers.

I have a set of 1720's thrust tubes.. on ebay, 2200,, parts to finish around 1500 to $2000 each drive, trannys velvet or zf's can range from 200 used to I think the bam is like 1400.....

if you have engine room you can run this set up for $35000 less then the asd6...

take a look
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...eson-asd6.html

I can also give you the email of 3 guys with asd 6's from 9k each to 5k for a set of ccw 1721 drop boxes...

btw
in line drives can take more power,, there are no gears, no chains just a shaft and ujoint. that is why they sell a hi power gear set at arneson... that being seed most mono hull gas out drive boats are not a good fit for in line arnesons.. scarabs being one make.
