I had a Baja 33 Outlaw just before the 42 Fountain I now have. Yes the Fountain is longer and rides MUCH better, and it is far more stable and will hold its value better. But the Baja had a certain "cool" factor to the novice boater and the girls liked it!

I have a 1998 29' Fountain 700 hp with a Imco Extreme Advantage and 2' shortie out drive and a 1998 27' Baja Boss with 509 m3 procharger 750 hp and a Mr Gadgets built XR drive. Both have about 30 hrs on them. What is the best choice as a keeper? Iam only keeping 1 boat...
ITS A NO BRAINER MAN! DEFINITLY THE FOUNTAIN. I HAD THE SAME BAJA 27 AND THE QUALITY IS NOT THAT OF A FOUNTAIN. IVE WORKED ON MANY OF BOTH OF THESE BOATS, SEEN THEM INSIDE AND OUT. THE BAJA IS ( NO OFFENCE TO BAJA OWNERS, AS I LOVED MINE!) A CHEAPER BUILT BOAT. ITS WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO THE DETAILS IS WHEN THE QUALITY OF THE FOUNTAIN IS SEEN. JUST LOOK AT THE DASHBOARD OF EACH BOAT AND YOUR CHOICE SHOULD BE CLEAR.
AS STATED PREVIOUSLY, THE FOUNTAIN WILL HOLD ITS VALUE BETTER ALSO. BUT IF YOU REALLY CANT DECIDE, THEN I THINK THAT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO PUT EM BOTH UP FOR SALE AND HOPEFULLY YOU'LL SELL ONE!!!!!!! OR SELL EM BOTH AND GET YOU A CIGARETTE OR A NEW GTMM 27!!

When searching for new boats I found the Fountain way smaller, especially the cabin(so short) and no offence but just very cheesy as far as the set up, like a 80`s limo inside.
After seeing Bajas my wife stepped onto a Fountain Lightning and in 30 sec. she was like yeah no way.

That is exactly the response my girlfriend had..I feel more comfortable hanging out on the Baja. It even has a anchor locker, and you can step over the windscreen and onto the bow. And the cabin is bigger in the Baja. But there is something about the Fountain that keeps me hangin on to it. Must be the handling
