Default New clutch

my spare xr drive has a worn clutch,,, what is the best way to repair it,,install new forward and reverse gears,,,or can i just install a new clutch,,,iam thinking new gears also,,,whats do you guys say???

Depends on what the surface the cone rides on, looks like. I have cleaned them up with a dremel flap wheel while spining them in the lathe. The cone usually gets the most wear, unless it was locked up??

So how much material do you take off doing it that way. Knowing the specs of that cup I would not think that would be a good practice to pass along to the boating community.

I just polish the surface. I am guessing, maybe, .0002". Never tried to measure it.
Note: Don't try this at home. It may not be an approved process.

Hi TWIN-SPINS.
When mating new components with old i always hand lap with fine lapping paste seems to work very well.

Is that KY lapping paste or crest? I just what the correct stuff.
