Hang a line down centerline of transom or standoff box to determine actual height before cutting.

yes it is, but when measuring to cut the x, you need to measure straight up the transom perpendicular to the bottom to get the actual x dimesnsion. taking the angle of the transom out of the equation, measuring parallel with the transom would give you a longer measurement but the hole still in the same place. Just making sure were all talking the same measurement. I'll have to check how far below the pad the propshaft is.
Prop shaft is about -3"

If you're at 3" with the prop shaft parallell to the bottom (not the pad) you're at an X a bit higher than 17".

If I remember I was waffling between 17 & 18 so we split the difference....
Also my -3" is by eye......no straight lines or anything so easily +/-

I already had it flipped and shapened the edges of the strakes and the pad.

No hook in the hull at all...
