Default Help identify merc alpha ss lower unit

I have a alpha ss drive that I have been told runs a outboard CLE lower unit. I have broke my lower unit, don't think its good.when there is witness marks of something trying to come out lol. I have a few numbers that might tell us what it is.. they were hard to read so they might be wrong

1L85E125
1647 9559-c

Is there a guru to talk to about HD parts? If they make any. I am running this drive behind a 600 +hp 18.5' powerplay around 3000 lbs.

Any advice is appreciated

No real HD parts. Good luck finding a vertical shaft. A CLE outboard lower will work if you shorten the vertical shaft and you need to add a oil transfer port so oil will fill the upper. If you lost the upper, plan on finding a new drive.

I have a complete Alpha SS in my basement if you are interested. Was the spare drive on a boat I sold a couple years ago.

Bravo time Travis!! You won't have to worry about breaking it with that light boat. I've wondered when my SS will let go so I try and be somewhat easy on it.

I just sold my alpha ss for $1800.

600 hp into an alpha is a breakdown waiting to happen. You are running double the power rating for the ss. Might be time to do what I did....replace the alpha with a bravo, then ride like you stole it.
