Crash Boxes Only way I will go. Never drove my boat without them good way to learn. And no scratches from the dock. But I did install 24v starters. LOL

The cases, upper and lower, for the #4 and the #5 SSM drives are not the same and the parts from a #4 and a #5 will NOT interchange.

Crash box you have a neutral fwd and rev. You half to start in gear and shut it off to put in neutral fwd and reverse. Its tricky around the dock. But the benefit is they almost never brake and no maintenance.
Some of the SCS Crash boxes have a air operated clutch to shift.

There is absolutely no way in hell, that a SSM III, should be rated below and XR sportmaster!. Or a KAAMA better than a 3A, 4, 5....I'll give my ranking list lol
