Hard to get on plane-NXTs

I have a 35' V with side by side NXT's my hole shot is horrible. I maybe over propped a little but on a lake I get full RPM range. NXT's have built in vents so I am wondering if additional vents or covering existing vents would help. I over speed engines frequently and have tried every drive and tab combo and multiple drive heights and in and out with props. Anyone with similar experience?
Thanks for any help. P.S. always enjoy reading these forums

Hard to get on plane as the props blow out or it lumbers and the bow stays in the air forever?

Sounds like you need to do some prop testing. Call BBlades.

what props are you running bravo style or # 6 mercury or hering.

The boat feels like there is no props so I guess that's blow out. Bow up feathering to keep off rev limiters. The props are six drive clevers 37" 17 dia 19 rake.

spinning in or out ?

Mad Props 09-07-2015 05:56 PM

Spinning out and it is a little better spinning in but the over all handling is better out.

you are over revving your engines? and it is hard to get on plane because the props blow out?
are you using a 4 or 5 blade prop? if you have tried drive heights try using a satin finish prop where polish finish is removed or sand the finished off the prop.
my x dimenson is too high on my boat and I actually can get on plane with my satin finish 4 blades vs my polished finished five blades.

Are you using the tabs to get on plane?

An old raceboat trick:
Push the boat up until it just starts to blow out.
When it starts to blow out, chop the throttles back, and let the wake hit the back of the boat.
1) It will surf you up a little bit.
2) You now have a wall of water with the drives deep in such wall of water that you can apply power and and push the the boat all the way on plane.
--You won't get it right the first time. There is a timing/trial&error to it.

The props are satin finish 5 blade cleavers.
I do use tabs about half down. More makes it worse. I will try the little push method this weekend. If I can have stiff wind at my back it helps quite a bit.
I am tempted to install prop aerators I would just hate to make it possibly worse.
