Default TRS with BW 72C 1018 Installation Dimensions

Greetings:

I'm thinking about installing a TRS drive with the BW 72C 1018 transmisson.

How far from out from the transom does that setup protrude into the boat to where the bell housing bolts to the input side of the transmission?

20" - 24" ?

Thanks.....

what are you taking out? unless it is TRS-Merctrans. it is hard to justify. for that, you need about 9 to 10 inches in front of where front pulley is now.

This is less than I initially thought.

It's hard to judge the size of objects from pictures alone.

In this case, removing a twin set of Alpha 1 drives and replacing with a single robust II-TR drive so that I can swing a 20" prop.

then you need about a foot in front of the small block front pulleys.

It doesn't seem like much until you lose it. When I see my style of boat with bravos there looks to be a lot more room in front

Fortunately, I have room in the engine compartment without modifying anything forward or above for things to fit in the new location.

I can walk in front of my twins now but I will lose that privilege when I make the changes.

Thanks for the info and the comments.
