If you look at the lower half of the outdrive there are a few round areas taht make me think of welded in spots. They are on both sides of it. Would they have filled in something or any ideas?

Not sure on the RPM as I have never ran the boat. It is a Fusion 4 buy Turbo. I believe a 28p. Not sure diameter.

Those things (Stern Jack) have to play hell with the gimbal ring. I’d say that is their biggest downside.

When I purchased the boat the owner was showing me a few things. He showed me the water pickup on the lower had been welded about halfway shut and said this was done to prevent mud and debris getting in while beaching or running in low water. He also showed me a sea strainer that was added and a hose to back flush the pickup for when mud and debris dose clog it. He also gave me a hose I can use to run it on a garden hose. He said not to turn on the hose till the engine is running because the pressure will blow/break the sea strainer lid. I have been doing some work to the boat and looking over things but am a bit confused about all this. The boat has a transom water pickup added. It seems to be feeding the sea strainer. That being the case what is the water pickup on the lower used for? Does water still go through it to cool the lower? Would the water just discharge in the gimbal area for the lower? To run it on a garden hose do i just remove the feed to the strainer and attach the garden hose adapter, start engine, and the turn on water.

Not a great pick but the sea strainer is on the left.

Transom water pickup.
