Now I assume when you say X Dim. you are actually referring to prop shaft depth correct? What would make you say that mine is too low? The motor should be right around 900hp. Just by eyeballing it, the prop shaft does look pretty much level with the bottom of the sponsons. Just curious as to what you saw in the video that brought you to that conclusion.

Boat runs faster full of fuel or lots of people in back seat, due to weight of bowrider in the front. Motor is about 900 HP, never had it dynoed. Best speed was 108. Lower the prop 2", best of 98. If I was to pull out the 500 lbs of stuff my wife has to carry in might run faster
My prop shaft is 1/2" above the sponsons. Gear ratio is 1.36 In the video I did not see any rooster tail when you were running. When my boat was made I think I had the very first wall thru with the 26-27 bottom and Eliminator was concerned about getting the X to high. I had another friend that had a 2001 model taking offand he had same problem with X being too low. He raised his 2" so it was even with lower sponsons and he also gained 10 mph. I have no problem with blowout taking off. Only problem I have is I do not have a lot of torque taking off with the procharger and big prop. |
Boat looks great! I hope to own a closed bow 27 one day.
What speeds are you hoping for with the quad 900? |
ARA.I'm interested in how they setup your boat.I don't mean to be negative and hopefully will help you.I have exactly the same boat as you.I have 876 dynoed HP,1:27 ratio and my prop shaft was also level with the bottom of the sponsons. With this setup a Bravo 1 34 was too small. So there is no way you could use a 28 unless either you don't have 900 HP or your prop is too deep.I've tried every spacer depth and going deep kill's it.I am now getting close though.Keep me informed when you run it next. Carl.

So you guys don't have any planing or blowout issues with the open bow boats having the prop slightly above the bottom? Thinking about trying a -2 shorty lower, but I don't want to compromise planing.

I have no problem comming on plane. Only problem I have is big prop and low torque due to procharger at low rpm. Easy on drive tho.

Sorry to resurrect a long dead thread, but just saw one of 27' Daytonas up here near Lake Union. Nice boat and love the cat hull. I'm curious about something though, just for perspective. What is the fuel consumption per hour, at various given speeds of the 27' Daytona, and what is it's range?
