All acrylics are suceptible to chemicals, specially ammonia (Windex) and can be trashed real quick. If there are cracks around the installation holes it's either that the bolts were overtightened or the canopy wasn't annealed to take out the stresses. The fuzzyness is usually crazing. In most cases it's a chemical attack through not knowing how to care for them so it's not the manufacturer's problem.

Although it's possible to take out crazing, in F-16 canopies it's really hard because they have complex curves. It's not really worth the trouble. Buy a new set and take care of them.

We make the canopies for Motion and Donzi but we use 5/8" thickness. I'm sure that Aero Marine will be able to help you on this.
No they are distorted not scratched or chemically damaged. Tried two brand new sets each one was different. This is not something new Bob Teague has been putting it in test drives for years.

Default Eliminator canopies

So who makes the original canopies for Eliminator in the first place?

Distortion is rare and is squarely the manufacturer's problem. Distortion is there on day one.
When you start relating speed with canopies you open another completely different can of worms. If it's a poker run boat you can get away with acrylics, which gives you superior optical qualities.
If it's a serious racer you have to be far more aware of the effects of an impact and everybody has a theory. Actual surplus F-16 canopies, which used to be laminated and are now coated polycarbonate are a possibility. Personally I think that they lose their integrity once you trim them up but they have been credited with saving many lives.

Rare? Like I said you can read about any powerboat when Bob drove an eliminator, early DCB, ect.. he would comment on the capsules. Eliminator is aware and doesnt want to replace all the old ones out there it would cost a fortune. Original eliminator capsules have changed over the years. Or pay more for the better ones. I will get the name of our new ones that just cracked.

No names on them. I will have to look at the bill. I know they are the low pros.
