Removing a monster tab fron a daytona?
#1
Anyone know of any extra problems to remove a monster tab from a 36 daytona. Mine has a few scratches and I want to powercoat it. I figure it is siliconed to the transom and I did not know if I was getting into some real headache's to remove it from the transon.
Thanks

If you do decide to remove the monster tab, I would recommend that you first take the Tab off. Be sure to have a few helping hands, because the tab is HEAVY! Slowly work the bolts loose, and it should be fairly easy to remove. Then by using a small piece of Plexy Glass (you can use a puddy knife but you have to be careful), peel off and remove the old Silicon. I recommend the plexy glass because it will not easily scratch the surface, although anything is possible.
Once you're ready to put the tab back on, be prepared to use a lot of silcon and few extra people to lift and hold.
First, tape off the hydraulic lines, so that you do not get silcon within. Then around every bolt hole place silcon to seal. Then tighten the bolts up evenly, and the monster tab should fit right as it did before.
Good luck.
Hope this helps.
