I am new to this sight but really love all the info I get off of here. I have an 81 27 flatdeck with a supercharged 454. Stainless marine exhaust and trs drive. I do low 70's but have cable steerin so it gets real wild. I have got new hydrallic steerin for it but just have to find the time to install it. But I just wanna say thanks to everyone for all the great info and history of these boats. I think its cool to know all we can about the history. Thanks again, Shawn.

Any rough production figures?
Did they come with single (port/starboard) bolster seats or side by side/double bolster seats like the Fountains?
How did Reggie Fountain wind up using their hull for his first offshore boats?

Any pics to post?

There is a red and white 79/80 Excalibur 31 in my area (once owned by a large local car dealer) and a dark blue and white EX 31 in MD off of 301 near Kent Island/Piney Narrows at "Chesapeake Outdoors"...not sure if that one is for sale or not? Both boats have peaked my curiousity/interest. I love their shape/style.

THANKS for all your time, help and info.

Question 1978 24' Excalibur

Looks like I may be the owner of one of these things in the next few days. Don't know much about them, Just wanted to know if it was worth the trouble to deal with. The hull might as well be completely stripped. Looks like someone started a refirb and just stopped. It has some of the lower unit parts in the bilge and is on a trailer. Just thought I would ask the question, "What would do if it were yours?" I have some photos along with other things if interested.@ http://carsinmyyard.shutterfly.com/

Thanks

That is a very fun hull. If it were mine, I would rebuild it with the intent of have a no BS, no frills, hot rod. A 500HP engine would be great.

Or, you could pull it down to me, I will rebuild it and send you pictures when I am done and having fun with it!

Question for 'older boater'

I have the 1980 24 that used to belong to MrExcal. Its possible that you were involved in its build.

I find it strange and a little worrying that there is not a complete bulkhead in the boat. Have you any idea why it might have been built like this?
