bringing this topic back to the top. I cut the top of my motion tanks off this weekend and am in the process of cleaning out the tanks. Now I am wondering what is the best product to use when sealing the tanks.
Thanks!

Soon after the Long Island Sound area of New York switched to gas mixed with ethanol, BoatU.S. began receiving calls from boaters who owned older gas-powered boats with fiberglass fuel tanks. The tanks, it seemed, were being slowly dissolved by ethanol; black stuff was building up on valves and intakes, destroying engines and some fuel tanks were becoming soft and even weeping fuel. Since then, BoatU.S. has sponsored several tests to find out exactly what the problem is. Here are the results of what we have learned so far. We’ve highlighted the important aspects in each case.

Yes it is. DW made the original AMTs. As I told Maritime, you need to be sure that all the gas is out of the coring. If not the fumes will leave tiny pin holes. I drilled out the bad spot and filled it will epoxy then I sanded the inside of the tanks and layed down a single layer of light mat. I then painted in the ceram kote with a brush the inside of the tanks. I think I put on 3 coats.
Also when I cut the top out of the tanks, I beveled it back about 2 inches all the way around to make a flange to bolt down a 3/16" aluminum inspection plate. That made it easier to recoat in the future.

This is great information guys! Thanks! The price of the product is fairly reasonable. I will be making an order to them later this week. I just need to measure the inside of my tanks to see how much of the product I need.
