We get new boats in this time of the year with shrinkwrap on them and the first thing we do is cut breather vents in them because of codensation accumulating in the winter!! Makes sense if you think about it. |
Re: Headliner problem/question
I know milliken is the name of the fabric dis. that did my boat in 1991 and they still exist . you might try looking in you big owners manual or your customer book that came with your boat . my boat has a fabric quality test and describes all tests and distributer.

Have you EVER been in a rain storm while out in your boat? Did you take the time to COMPLETELY dry your boat, or did you cover it and say I will clean it before I go out next time? It happens to everyone.

Does Formula have an enviromental rating on the boat? Something like....... "It should only be used in <95% humidity at <94 degrees F"........I haven't seen that at all. Is it in the brochures? If there is a PROBLEM.........Formula should stand up and address it.   |
Re: Headliner problem/question
I agree with these guys, the atmospheric conditions reasoning/excuses is/are total BS.
It's a f'king BOAT ie: DAMP ENVIRONMENT  and even some HOT SUN and it's just a couple of boats here and there, which further makes it sensible that these are isolated application (glue/amount) or product (glue/foam/material) issues. |
Re: Headliner problem/question
I believe one of the Porter's is a member here on OSO, Jeremy? maybe. Let's see if he jumps in here.
As Rippem noted above, it is a random boat here and there that appear to have this problem. In any manufacturing environment that has "people" involved, and as close as the QC personnel can be, there are the rare instances when procedures are not exactly duplicated. If this headliner application was done on a Monday or a Friday, that can be a factor, a bad batch of adhesive, an incorrect setting on the spray gun, any number of items can affect this.

Re: Headliner problem/question
Tread I totally agree, I to am a small business owner in construction business many times have gone back fix, replace things that were no fault of mine. My experience is that bad service travels alot faster than good. How much can it really cost formula for a 10 yrds of headliner material. 200,000.oo for a boat and cant send a couple hudred bucks af material out.
As for selpel, it is used in the sun and espically water maybe I should keep on the hoist and just look at it so nothing goes wrong.. |

He (Sepel) will tell you that you looked at it too long and it caused the bla bla bla to go bad.... Because you can only look at it when the moon is full and the the humidity is low and the temp is.... He really represents himself and what is considered to be one of the best factory boats in the business in a bad way. I would not buy anything from him with his attitude, the customer is always wrong, and let me tell you why your $250K boat should not expect to hold up to the elements. After all it's a boat... |
