Default stereo radio install on 353

Old radio puked out, need to install new one. Are there any access panels at all? Or am I stuck doing all work thru
2" x 6" slot of old radio? I can not find any entry points.

In the closet, above the fridge, the breaker panel can be lowered by twisting the two locks. Access is then gained above that panel. You will need a southco key to open it. If you don't have one, you can call Formula for one. They will know what you are looking for. Hope this helps!

The radio should pop right out. There is probably a bezel around the face that needs to come off first, after that you might have to take like a panel popper or two flat head screw drivers to each side and radio and push out the tabs that hold it in place. Once they're pushed out the radio should slide right out. Disconnect the wiring harness and your good to go.

Yes radio did pop out, problem was wires were extremely short and had prior splice, so that I wanted to redo all. So to reach those wires and prior splice I was sticking my fat arm thru 2 x 6 radio spot. I did see circut panel access that flopped down in frig comparpment, but assumed a special key was needed.
Perhaps this was a poor solution, but there is a comparment directly below radio used to hold cd's. I inserted a short 2x4 into this cavity. I struck the other end of the 2x4 w/ a hammer and knocked the back off the compartment. Result was great access to wires, and I have to repair back panel. Actually lots of room inside of that hollow. If I can figure how to take advantage of for additional storage I will.

Well I called Formula to get special key to open circuit panel above refrig. However, they said anyone who knocks the cd storage back off with a 2x4 to install a radio probably should'nt have access to electrical panels!

Just kidding, we did have tunes this weekend!
