Default Outdrive trim questions.

1996 271 SR1 w/ Alpha I drives...

The outdrive still trims but the trim gauge doesnt move, or has a very limited range.

Anyone ever have this problem?
Dont know if I will need to replace the sender, which seems more involved and expensive or if it is the gauge itself.

Thanks in advance.

A 1996 271 with Alpha drives?????

Are ya sure? Most probably Bravos.

Mechanical indicators or stock Mercruiser?

Most likely it's the sensor on the drive.
Try removing the sensor and turning the center piece by hand while having someone in the boat watching the gauge.

And yeh, I believe he could have Alpha II drives with SBC's.
