**UPDATE**
Pulled the pan on the motor i thought was sick and sure enough. The banging around was the rod. Number 8 cylinder the piston broke at the wristpin. The rod is still connected to the crank and was banging in the cylinder. I think the block is also cracked. I drained a gallon of water out of the pan before oil came out
Any way i am glad i found it was the motor and not the trans or drive.
