The factory rigging on the water system wasn't quite as......elegant. It took me a long time to figure out a good way to clean it up. There are a lot of systems in there, so no matter how hard you try, you end up with a certain amount of clutter and crossed lines/hoses.

Still..................:D

Thanks for the Kudos!

Audiofn 04-26-2008 11:48 AM

In that first picture... I can not beleive that you let that throttle or shift cable hang down like that...... I mean really!!! :D:D

It's a capillary line for the water pressure. I fixed it today after I saw that picture. :p

Hatch is ON!

...and the last details finished underneath. Coolant tanks back in and the starboard door on the new diamond plate platform.

Those of you with keen eyes may have noticed that I did indeed find and install replacement stickers on the flame arrestors. (I dare you to try and find some of those babies.)

Back to the marina tomorrow, and a few final touchup jobs.

R Addiction 04-26-2008 08:20 PM

I see that you found the bracket for the hatch ram:cool-smiley-011: Give me a call when you can Chuck.

SOX 04-27-2008 08:05 PM

Great job Chuck!!! You amaze me with the way you handled this project. I don't think I know anyone as organized and focused as you. You handled so much without ever losing your cool and always with a great attitude and a smile on your face. Your engeneering talents show in every detail and unlike most engeneers I know, your engeneered designs all work! I wish I had the patience, organizaton, and mechanical ability you have.

Congratulations to you and Dianne, I know you BOTH worked very hard on this and you both did a fine job.

Now lets break out some WINE!!! :ernaehrung004:

Take care,

Rob

And as a Swede it's nice to see you run Volvo Penta. Theese DPX -drives is one of the best drives out there.

Dmaxx3500 - Those are Van Diemen Formula Vauxhall Juniors, stored in the truck bay where I work. They were used for a consumer "Racing School" program we ran a few years back.

Everyone else: Thank you! Everyone's tastes are different, and some people might not find what we did as impressive or even appealing, but we have no regrets, and it means a lot to us to read your comments.

One last important acknowledgment:
In 1997, I met Bobby Moore and contracted him to re-rig a 28' boat I had purchased. Needless to say, the boat came out great, but we also became good friends. Bobby, his wife Joanne, and son William have remained in touch with us, and we see each other on a regular basis. Bobby's knowledge and experience have been absolutely invaluable to me in this project. While he did not have time to come up and assist me personally, the work he did on my other boat and the advice he has given me have been terrific. He saved me from making some potentially costly mistakes, and helped in a myriad of ways.

Thanks, Bobby!

And while the pictures look great, they don't do this job justice. The amount of time that was put into this is astounding. Quite a learning experience for me Chuck and we are looking forward to a great summer rafting up and overnighters with you and Dianne.:ernaehrung004:

The party's over...

Here's most (but not all) of the hardware, plumbing and wiring that was removed or replaced. The round discs at the bottom of the first two shots are roughly 3/8" thick steel left over from lightening holes I cut in the engine accessory mounting plates. Although they only weigh a combined total of about 5 pounds, I feel better about having removed unneccesary material... (Anal Compulsive? Yeah, I guess...)

Also a shot of the shop. Only 1 mile from my house, it had heat, light, compressed air and BIG JOE, who lifted the genny, both engines, all four headers, both drives, and the sun pad. That's why I can still walk today.

SEE YOU ALL ON THE WATER!!!!:party-smiley-048:

GL@PBC 05-02-2008 02:46 PM

I work for a Formula dealer and told my rep about how cool your boat looked with the "flagship" style paint, he was very impressed!!!!! It's been great following your progress, thanks for sharing.

SOX 05-02-2008 03:23 PM

"Flagship" style paint...

Chucks boat IS the Flagship! Hands down. :cool-smiley-011:

C_Spray 05-02-2008 04:46 PM

Thanks. The boat was all white from 2000 through 2003. ("The flying refrigerator".) We put the original "straight" Flagship scheme on in mid-2004. After Scott Porter and a few others saw it at the 2005 Rendezvous, it did inspire some of the current factory paint schemes, although all of them are considerably more elaborate. After seeing the factory schemes for 2008, we decided to add the "swoosh" to the rear to keep up with the times. Formula was even nice enough to supply some live Adobe Illustrator files from the 400SS scheme to help with cutting our paint mask templates.

R Addiction 05-02-2008 07:30 PM

Can't wait til next weekend Chuck.:cool-smiley-026:
