Actually it would easily support them, it's full of boats blocked up on the dock fingers right now. I've been looking for a lift that could be set up in there for two years now, problem is the water depth, not the structure.

You're a transient, even so, Tucky would have fixed it but was afraid he was going to slip on the sea gull chit and fall in the creek, which was why I told him I'd get some stuff and we would take care of it, he is after all a retired guy. Funny how you ended up in there when everyone told you there was no room at the inn, I guess Fountain Boy is good for something.

A poem by AXA:

The day I watched a Fountain go by
I thought to myself...Why?
Because I didn't have the knowledge or the bread
I thought that I would just start a thread.

The bread has been won,
So on with the fun.

AXA's Formula was fast, that's for sure,
But Ragged couldn't be stopped, that kind old Sir.
So off to the dealer with his checkbook in vein,
To find his new prize to take back his reign

To His surprise, the Formula fought like a trooper
Bewildered, Ragged wondered could it be supered? (charged)

AXA grinned as he passed Reggie's best Fountain
Thinking to himself, what a feat, I'm back on top of the mountain.

All scores settled, and back at the Boat house that night,
For some cocktails and banter to end it all, right?

I don't think so........

AirDock.

Been considering it for a couple years now. Done lotsa homework, The Commander can't have an issue 'cause nothings permanent...it's no different than tying a boat off. Problem is having to drive in...don't know if I could handle that.

The Big Castle called Bolt Castle on Heart Island is owned by the Porters who own Formula ...... The little castle down the river on Singer Island is owned by .... you guessed it Reggie.

Nothing has changed ...... bigger castle ..... bigger boat ..... who knew ??????

Just kidd'in .....

You have to make the trip , in all honesty this probably the most beautiful fresh water boating you ever see. There are so many things to see. There is alot turn of the century stories and old wives tales about the river back in the "RUM RUNN'IN" days. Some very interesting history.

Jeff

P.S.
If you ever want to come up to the "River" just let anyone of us know and we could surely point you in the right direction of where to stay, launch , eat etc......

FRMULTR 02-13-2008 08:26 AM

Actually, my wife has seen the slide show as well, and it has peaked her interest as well, so it may get placed on the summer boat trip schedule.

As my recall in the earlier posts ..... a great weekend or long weekend to come to islands is the second weekend in August .... the 8/9. There is alot going on at the "River".
Its Pirates Weekend in Alexandria Bay , as well the 1000 Islands Poker Run sponsored by Poker Runs America of which runs out of Kingston and goes through the islands .... what a sight ... 100+ serious boats go'in scream'in by you ... kinda like AXA being chased by Ragged (just kidding ... once again)
If you are interested in that weekend ..... you need to book now.

Jeff

axapowell 02-13-2008 09:27 AM

Just let any of us know when you might be making the trip. There are several activities all summer that might interest you. We can help you with finding the right accomadations!

I tried to post the slide show (Ihave it too), but the file is too big. I'll try to downsize it so everyone can enjoy it!

Dave.

If anyone wants it, PM me and I'll email it to you .

Reggie owning Singer might come in real handy, in case I need to make a pit stop. Something like Samantha would like to use the facilities, need a cold drink, or just waste a little time chit chatting with Reggie about how things are giong part way thru, maybe pick up a little tip or two. :D

The Rum Running is no old wives tale, my father grew up on the river and would talk about the people bringing in booze just below my grandparents cottage which was at Louisville Landing near Massena N.Y. It's well under water since the Seaway has been constructed, my father moved their cottage to Wilson Hill before the flooding. I actualy spent my first summer, at the age of 6 months old, on the St. Lawrence River and have been on it every year since. Was with my parents at camp the day they started to flood the Seaway, have pictures of myself, brother and sister, taken that day.

Thanks Jeff, I appreciate it a lot, it's tough being the only one in the boathouse. I must have missed this before. And you're welcome, glad to help. You didn't tell me if you wanted the 3M mini DVD, if you do just PM me the address to mail it to and it's yours.

It is an amazing place, and to think it was all taken out there by boat, a looooog time ago. About 18-20 years ago some friends and I went thru it with our kids. They would have a church service on Sunday morning and after the service, and for a small donation, you could tour the place. A close friend of mine, who can con anyone into anything, talked the caretakers kids into taking us thru all the hidden/secret pasageways thruout the entire castle for something like five bucks each. You can go to and from every room in the entire place and never be seen. Even has hidden staircases, and the old peek holes in the pictures on the wall deal. They also claim the original owner would roam around spying on his guests to see what they were up to. If you ever come to this area it is worth the time to go thru it, they won't let you into the secret pasageways but it is still cool to see.

FRMULTR 02-13-2008 09:39 PM

The original owner must have been a little freaky, with having all those spy tunnels.

got twins ? 02-13-2008 10:43 PM

Don't forget Casa Blanca .... on this island they have these port holes all cut out and back in the day they would communicate via different coloured lanterns on whether it was safe come on the island or they were going to get ambushed by the authorities for Rum Runn'in ..... there is some awsome history on the river. Like Ragged had stated earlier i as well have been on that river for 35+ years seen alot crazy stuff over the years are was told alot of amazing stories.
Things like the love story of Mr. Bolt ....... He had his island shaped into a heart and started to build "Bolt Castle" for his fiancee of which died before he had a chance to finish it. He never returned and never finish the Castle and it sat for years and years and years. He got his money from a little Hotel Chain he started called ...... you may of heard of it .... Waldorf Astoria .... not bad for a guy who thought it would be a great idea to put fresh flowers on the tables in the dining room.

Mostly they were so the servants/staff could move around without being seen by guests. Today people evesdrop electronicaly, back then all they had was the peep holes.

FRMULTR 02-14-2008 07:30 AM

I guess spying on people went on back then, just like it does now, only technology has advanced a bit, and cameras can be hidden anywhere. As a matter of fact, I need to sweep my office, to make sure its still clean of bugs and cameras.

Jeff,
this is what we did to celebrate Valentines Day. :D
Exchanged cards over early am coffee and then... braaap~braaap :evilb:

70 mile AM/midday loop from her place in Clayton >LaFargeville >Theresa >Redwood >Alex Bay back to Clayton.

The 1000 Islands club that we belong to is doing a helluva job when they have snow to work with. The whole system is a nice mix of twisty-turny, woods, RR bed and straight runs across big meadows with those nice half-blind rises in them...
...open up and say A I R :Score-101010:

The turn by the picnic table is groomed all the way to Cape Vincent via Chaumount. Gonna run that before the conditions fade. If not today (Fri.) definitely Monday.

double click the pics for size!

When was the last time you saw this thread at the 13th place on this board? I don't think ever ...... Are we all still getting over Valetines Day? We must be thinking up more material to use against the Fountain Boy and The Sonics ....... Hey that sounds like a Rock Band .....:cool-smiley-026:
Did anyone goto the show in Syracuse? Was it any good?

WhatzzzzUp guys?

No boat show for us this weekend, just dinner with some friends and a few cocktails in Syracuse. Nice relaxing weekend seeing some boater friends and hanging out catching up with one another.

Saw Ragged and Samantha at their hotel Saturday night, hung out for a little while and said hi. Besides that, just kicking back and waiting 'till the ice melts.

PS Ragged: Make sure Reggie sends you ALL the right parts, but you should install them before September if you want to take a shot at my Formula (AKA: Fountain killer!)......

I'm confident that my "guy" Reggie can steer me in the right direction once we get hooked up, and have no doubt this will happen waaaaaay before September. When comming from a man who spent all day saturday wrapped up in a "Dora the Explorer" blankie, photo proof too boot, does little to strike the fear of God in the soul of this "Fountain Boy". I'm thinkin' I'm good to go where I'm at. The little extra is just for my own chits and giggles, I am going to love this GPS speedo with recall. :D

Bring it on there "Formula Boy"!!!!!:D

Yes, spent all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday working the Syracuse show for Hutchinsons Boat Works, the Sea Ray dealer from Alexandria Bay, New York. We had a good show and a good turnout. Long days, but we always have a good time doing this show. Makes you wish spring was closer.

Forgot to mention that some of the "Ponders" were in to visit during the show.

ThirdBird 02-20-2008 06:39 PM

What happened to this thread, it fricken died.

Any way, just to get it going again, I talked to Axa. There will be no showdown until the entire Formula contingent is there to observe and judge.

That's Jeff and his Rochacha crew, Rippem, Mike, Pachanga Mike. We'll call the winner by consensus.

I'm root'n for the Fountain.:D:D:D

I predict he'll take Axa by a beak.:party-smiley-004:
