Pete,
You're lucky you weren't at speed with the trailer, I had that happen the day I picked up the old 28zx from abay. Made it all the way to Cicero before the wheel showed up in the rearview chasing me at about 65mph. I ended up with a new axle...... |

Dave Being done right now, my guy is on it. Al's out chasing down parts. He has all four apart and we are going to put new bearings and seals in the other three. The bad one needs a new brake drum, which Bill has in stock if Al can't find it locally, as well as the bearings, seals and brakes. He played with the spindle for a while this am and feels it will be ok. Good thing cause it's welded to the axle and if shot it means a whole new one. Looks like it will work out, odd thing is that the trailer was going to him after I got in the water for a complete going over, was waiting just to make it easier to work on for him with the boat off the f'n thing. Oh well, chit happens, and I always end up on the wrong side of the fan.:hitfan: Prop testing is on hold for a bit, there's little hope in my mind for the Maxes, maybe I can keep the others for a while longer and spin them. Now it is looking like lab Bravos or some trick Herings. |

Same here, chained the biotch up, after taking the wheel off and having the brake drum hub comdo fall off on the blacktop, and tooled down the shoulder at 5 mph and backed her in the G-rage. Parts are on their way, the axle is a-ok, so things are looking up. Talked to Brett a BBlades at length this afternoon and the 5 blades may be back in play despite their chit performance on saturday. Need to spin the others, but we are closing in on a program here. |

My new exhaust is still not here yet dammit!!!! I want to have it on by the holiday. So where did you land on this deal? I am assuming you will be adding enough HP to take care of my lite work :D. |

It's a place called the Boat Store out of Waverly, Mass. They sell many brands of exhaust. I'm giving the GLMs a try. But, I ordered custom stainless risers instead of the GLM aluminum risers. They had to be fabricated, that's what the hold up is. I'm certainly not looking to, or expecting to take care of any lite work. Just trying to shave some azz pounds off my old lead sled. If I see some performance gain, it's a bonus. My 4 blade 24P Hydros dropped my top end RPMs by about 100. Hoping maybe to gain that back and perhaps increase my cruise speed a bit. If you guys remember, when I rebuilt my engines in '05, I replaced my heads with Dart Iron Eagles. They are supposed to be a better flowing design than stock. Never saw any seat of the pants gain from them but the new exhaust may allow the gains to be seen. Who knows, probably a big waste of money. Should have saved it for buying gas.:grinser010: |
Well, the motors are in and the drives are on. Just a few things left to hook up and I should be ready to test by tomorrow or Sunday. Of course, that all depends on the weather....
Things went very smooth so far. I'll post some pics when I get a chance. Dave |

Dave[/QUOTE] Well I wish I could say the same, was hoping to have the trailer back on the ground vs on wood blocks. No parts yet, the f'n things better show monday, or I'm going direct to the mfgr. and overnighting the chit. I don't want to screw up my season, I was on a roll this year. |

I think between all of us we certainly find or borrow a trailer for you to get to the river to the boathouse if needed. Let me know if that is needed .... I have met a couple of guys down here in Rochester with Reggie Boats. I would be more than glad to ask them if needed .... if it will help you out. Jeff |
Jeff,
Good thought but....Gotta get the boat off the trailer first...no? Dave |

Hey Pete,
I think between all of us we certainly Jeff Can you and 190 of your best friends come on up and help me pick this thing up and get it on one of them borrowed trailers? I figured it out and with 191 guys it just under 50 lbs per man.:D Oh, plus your fair share of the near full fuel load. It's in the storage garage up on wood blocks, ain't going anywhere without wheel bearings, seals, and a brake drum. Other than that all is well here. Another weekend of wax on, wax off. And every coat seems to make it faster. Axa's going to need a lot of wax! :D |
Axa is going to power wash the wax right off that beak boat when he goes by you. :p

He's a hoser? Should have known, I've suspected he's been trying to hose me on this engine build all along. I'm already +4 mph to his all time high number, and that is with stocker props, and brain dead consistent repeatability. Brett @ BBlades says there is more to come :D. |
BIRD,
What do you use for wheel bearing grease on the bird hauler??? |

I will just bring my Tundra up there and drag that trailer and boat of yours to the river. Don't worry about the wheels, bearings etc. you aren't going to need them. How's that for your 190 of my best friends for yeah ..... LOL .... LOL .... Jeff |

Jeff That's almost as funny as the guy at my buddys wrecker service saying he would bring the rollback out and just load the whole rig right on it. Them jap trucks ain't built to haul real boats. |

Had I known they would take this long I would have driven down and picked them up. Thanks for the tip, going to wait till monday and see if they show. Two works just fine, as long as you have both of them.:( |

As for "them jap trucks" stay tuned there is a new sheriff in town with regards to a tow vehicle. Awe this reminds me old times ...... :hitfan: Just kidd'in ...... Jeff |
Mystic JT-6
Citgo product. VERY high water-resistance. Has a big following for boat trailer wheel bearings right here on the board including me. I've been using it exclusively for a few years now. I won't tell the story but that JT-6 and it alone has saved my bearings/spindles more than once. I've seen how the grease itself has held up to EXTREME-untouchable tire/wheel for-an-hour hub/bearing/spindle heat soak and it's amazing. a little discoloration (from the typical goldish to almost a purple-brown) and just a little "loose". many other greases would have been running out of the hubs like water waaay before the temps this stuff saw. I've seen the bearings/races/spindles since those episodes and all is well! just putting my own experience and another option out there for anyone who questions what to use. |

I was running 88.2 as an all time best. 92's Still not enough!! Unless you let Rippem tow your boat again. :party-smiley-004: I hope to have video tomorrow to help you out. Still waiting on the weather. I'll keep you in suspense for a little while longer! :D Dave |

He!! you got a windshield and one of those Sea Ray tops, run the F'n thing in the rain. I hope it does run 90+, at least I'll have someone to run with. Most of the chicken fleet is WOT at my cruising speed. This one is heavier, he'd be lucky to hit 92 going downhill with that Barn Queen. :evilb: |
With the 4 blades, it ran 88.2 with 1/2 tank and 3 people. I think you were rebuilding at the time. 86 with you and the 5 blades first time in the water....2006. Remember? You getting senile on me?

Dave Now, onto something with a little more substance: Did you launch? It was nice this morning, there was time to get it in the water before the rain. Or, are you on the 2pm boathouse schedule already? |
It rained here ALL DAY :( just came in from the glimmer of sun (20 minutes...). Cleaned the cabin all day to make it nice and spiffy!
