Default 312 bunk/cradle question

Wondering if anyone can comment on the best spacing between two bunks on a cradle for a 312 fastech? I tried to make adjustments last season and didn't seem to get it right, now want to get it right before the ice is gone!

I've since sold mine but had a terrible time with the chine placement on that hull. I ended up cutting the 14 ft bunks down to 2 shorter ones and staggering them. the ones farther forward were about a foot or so closer together.

My cradle is set up so I can only have to boards, either 14 or 16 foot. I can't sokit them, they have to be contiguous, like rail on the train track. I could not get the boat to set right last season and think if i wide them from 29" apart to something wider like 36" that might work better. Do recall how far apart yours were?

I have no idea. I remember he chines would not allow bunk placement that would miss the chines both in front of and behind the step. Finally cut them and staggered them. (I moved the bunks 3 times in/out before giving up and cutting them).

BTW: you can cut the bunks to fit around the chine if needed. (ie: cut them into something more/less than teh 1 1/2 step that the boat has)

I assume you are talking about a boat lift. My Hydrohoists here are on 36" centers and work well with Fastechs and Supersports of various sizes.I don't worry about the steps.

Yes, talking about a lift. I tried to cut out for the step, it helped a bit but still not happy with the results. Based on what Magicfloat is saying, I may need to just have 2 straight un-notched piece layed out 36 inches apart. Does this makes sense?

Magicfloat would know better than I. If we're only talking a lift and not a trailer (where the boat would be bouncing down the road) then straight bunks, even if un-cut would be OK. If you can notch them as close as possible I would call it good for the lift.
