Default Generator in a 353?

Anyone install an onboard generator on a 353? I have a Honda 2000, just wondering if it's possible to go with an onboard and not hassle with the Honda.

I installed an on board Kohler 5K generator in a 357. Very convenient, but does take quite a bit more fuel than a Honda. I us mine mostly to run the A/C. I would install another on board again just for the convenience.
Search online for marine generators and you can find used ones. Mine was a take out from a boat that was converted to diesels. Had only 20hrs on it when I got it. Very easy to install.

Yeah, I'm sold on the convenience factor. I'm just not sure about space in my engine compartment. I have a vacuflush head with holding tank that takes up a good bit of room. That's why I was wondering if there are any 353's with a generator.

i have a westerbeke factory installed gen in my 2006 353. its under the seat. i would never buy any boat w/o gen. this is a 3kw, it runs a/c, charger, tv, frig, and never misses a beat. it is only 165lbs,and water cooled, so the little extra weight doesnt slow the boat at all.

Any chance you could post a pic of your generator set up?

Thanks, looking forward to seeing the set up. I priced the genset online.... $5,500+. That's a little more than I would have thought but it does have "marine" in the title. Looks like a neat unit.

Man that genset sure is nestled in there. Thanks for the pics, it will help me out if I decide to take on this project. Good luck selling your boat-nice looking.
