Looking great. What's the deal with the manifolds? Did they just rot out or what?

I figured they were 10 years old.....why risk the new engines with that? Someone came by the shop and offered $600 a pair for them as is. Sounds really nice to me! :)

Here are two of the old ones. I didn't even bother getting them tested or anything. :D

Sounds like a deal to me! I'm quite familliar with the CMI time bomb issues, but what was the deal with the intakes?

Just curious really.

Oh.....those! So many parts. :) The Whipple intake manifolds are not plated at all. No matter what, they corrode. Also, the casting does not align with the gaskets they provide which also causes a water resriction. I had to machine the new ones and we also blue hard anodized the complete part. The new ones pictured here we sent back to them and got the non-painted ones so we could anodize the whole part.

Wow, with no coating at all it's no wonder they corrode! Can't believe they can't even get a gasket that matches properly

The boat is really looking good, can't wait to hear the results with the new motors.
