~~~> 4th Annual BIRDS on the BAY Formula Rendezvous - NJ - September 1st
SubscribeJust a few days away! I'm getting very excited. For those heading down from north of the 37 bridge, how can we meet up?
I'm a little frustrated that my schedule is too tight to give my boat a good bath... I had to hire a company to detail her. My wallet is feeling some pain from that decision.
206- reach out to panic attack aka silent thunder aka bill. He comes out of goose creek which is just north of the bridge. I'll give him a heads up that you'd like to meet up and ride down. I would recommend just meeting at the bridge or a channel marker. Im sure he'll chime in here at some point. There might be a few more coming out of toms river that might want to meet up too.
I'm sure we all wish we had more time to spend on our boats. Me included.
Yeah wish I had time to clean up the boat as well, it's like going to a car show but 1000 times better....
One more day of work before the rendezvous weekend.
Anyone planning on boating Saturday before dinner? Hoping to get a few rays in before? Sure the boat wife will want/need prep time before as well. Depending on the time I get down on Saturday might hit the water until 1ish. What time is everyone planning on getting to tices on Sunday?
Captains Inn 8:30 AM for breakfast on SUNDAY plan to float out 9:45-10:00AM in a group and do the run over to Tices and get some neat running shots of the crew.
Saturday people are arriving as early as 2 pm for the Rendezvous dinner. Im going to wash and maybe throw another coat of wax on her and drop the boat in and leave it at Captains and my pops 312 go shower then be back to assist people getting in. Couple of margaritas to start it off wont hurt either.
Been watching the weather forecast, trying my best to triangulate it. From what I'm seeing and reading, we should be in the clear for both Saturday and Sunday. So load up the trucks or pack up your boats in order to hit Barnaget Bay this weekend and the 4th Annual Birds on the Bay Formula Rendezvous. Don't let the slightest threat of precipitation alter your weekend plans. There is locally known weather pattern called the Forked River Horseshoe. To put it simply, it rains everywhere else except Forked River and the cloud pattern takes on the shape of a horseshoe.
Saturday looks good with a slight slight chance of a shower after 9PM. Although there is a greater chance on Sunday, all the reports I've heard are that showers are expected later in the afternoon or early evening hours. Although it's not the clear blue sky's we'd like, we'll make do with what we got.
To be on the safe side, for those coming in from out of town, you might want to just double check that you go your full enclosure packed if you got one.
IMPORTANT: Due to the heavy Southwest winds we are having we may move the raft up to either the mouth of Stouts Creek (directly west from TICES shoal one creek north from the Forked River) or possibly "Windy Cove" at the mouth of Cedar Creek. Please keep tuned in to see if the Rendezvous location does change in the morning.
Breakfast will be at 8:30am @ Captain's Inn and then a group run to the Rendezvous Raft-Up location will follow. Posted are some screenshots of possible relocation spots are.
Backup #1: Mouth of Stout Creek
Backup #2: Mouth of Cedar Creek "Windy Cove"
Both of these backup spots area well protect to ensure a safe raft-up with the southwest winds we are facing.
Ok we are resorting to back up raft-up location due to winds. The MOUTH OF STOUTS CREEK is where is till be. Stouts creek is one north of the Forked River! Same time see ya all there!
Ended up in Toms River due to the weather. So plans had to change a few times on Sunday. all in all turned out well. Great time great people great boats. Check out Formula Owners of NJ's Facebook page or Formulaboatsforum for pics.
Well our 4th Annual BIRDS on the BAY Formula Rendezvous has come and gone. Weather challenged us a bit for the raft-up, and we had to choose another location than Tices. Next year there will be better backup plans set into place to reduce confusion and to ensure everything goes smoothly. We did get to run the boats in the waters FORMULAS are designed to tackle and I had a blast on the 26 rocking with a 34PC, 37PC and also my local Fastech family and buddies.
Some pics have been added to the FORMULA OWNERS OF NEW JERSEY Facebook page however they are out of order because of Facebook difficulties.
Thanks to all that showed up, thank you to those who lend an extra hand promoting this event and help make things go smoothly during the raft-up.
Keep an eye open for a Formula Owners of New Jersey fall run to the Golden Nugget possibly during the weekend of the In-water boat show.
