I understand some of that logic Lightning Jet. You can't just go by the Model and Year to figure fair price as a buyer or seller. Condition, features, upgrades and maintenance all plays part of it. For example, the 2001 Formula with Arneson drives sold for over $125K last year. I can guarantee that my 2002 would go for more than $50K.

I do to think that is a fair comparison. The 2001 model has the newer more desirable dash and cabin. Arneson drives are 25k a side, you didn't mention the power but I am sure it didn't have stock 500s hooked to it.

I agree this 16 year old hard to finance boat is over priced if the seller really want to move it quick. To make it worse the OP is offended of the advice he is getting. 60k asking 55 sale gets that boat sold, 49,995 if he wants it sold in a week. He may get the 70, but it is going to take a while IMO.

Also really clean boats sell quick, but rarely for more than market value. Trashed boats take time to sell and end up dropping the price, we just don't see that.

Just curious, if $70k is the quick sale price, what would he want for it if he wasn't in a hurry to sell?

That being said I could still prob find you a 1998 Cig 38 top gun for that 70k if I looked hard enough.

1998 has a different dash and cabin from a 2001? I wasn't aware.....what's different? Arneson.....that's $25K retail new....right? Oddball power......sometimes good.....but most times bad for value.

I agree......I wonder what the "non-hurry" price of the boat would be?

I'm pretty sure the only the 97 was black, and the 98 was all all white and non VDO gauges.

Correct, the 97s had the old black SR1 dash, 98 went to the next all white with colored bezels, 2004 was the next change with colored dash panels and mega gauges.
