Angry Anyone change Lens on Bomar hatch - mine is cracked

Trying to fix a cracked lens on my 353. Called Bomar, they told me they have replacements for 98 and previous because the handles were ultra-sonically welded.

Anyone have luck replacing the lens and gluing the handles back on? I need to get this fixed ASAP, as the boat is at the painter - the graphic goes across the lens.

Thx.

Eric

Might try running it over to a glass shop. They may recognize the glazing compound by sight. 3m make all sorts of different goops that those guys use for the shower enclosures and so on.

yeah, the sealant isn't the issue for me. Its that the handles are welded to the lens. i now have a company that can supply the lexan cut to form, just need a way to bond it well. Acrylic and the abs handles are two materials that are hard to bond.

You might consider using handles that require bolts and or screws like mine do.

i wish they made them for my hatches. Bomar said the new style (99+) don't work with 98 and previous.

Your best solution is to replace the hatch if you can not mechanically fasten the old handle onto the new plexiglass. It is going to be difficult to bond to the plexiglass permanently. Epoxy will not work. Cyanoacrylates will not work for long. You might call Plexus Adhesives for some advice.
