I was actually going to buy a Bimini top for mine. I just liked the extra shade and never really thought about them looking funny. Then I saw all of Cuda's comments. (I laughed hard when i saw the one where he had the arrow pointing to the Bimini asking "What is this?" about two posts after the guy posted pics of his boat.)
Anyway, I came to realize that they really do look bad. I think someone used an analogy that had something to do with a monkey and a football. So, this summer when I come in looking like a lobster I can blame it all on you Cuda.
But, thank you for letting me realize how stupid I'd be looking if I'd have bought that top. A lobster I can be. But, I didn't want to be the monkey. (Or much less the football).

Hey Cuda,
Isn't the pic above (#31) taken at Gator's near Tampa? I was just down there in early January visiting with my younger brother and went there on his boat after Shell Island. I'll have to look you up when I get down that way again, and I'll tell him to look for your boat.

Now if you could just help me explain this to Norty, it'd all be good.

Hey Brent (Bford1),
Are the little orange buttons you guys are talking about those push button switches that Formula used all over their cabins in the 80's? If that's what its about I just solved the whole thing recently. Those switches are made by Oslo. They disco'ed them a long time ago. Unfortunately it's near impossible to find switches that fit that almost square opening AND HAVE 12 VOLT ILLUMINATION. I got a hold of a big switch distributor here in chicago (they sell to Livorsi) and found out some interesting things about those switches in our boats. Basically they are crap and terribly underrated. They are only good for 6 amps. I found out the hard way when the cabin blowers started a fire in the switch on my F402. I now have a source for a 12 volt illuminated rocker switch rated at 16 to 20 amps. The rocker is way more mechanically reliable than the pushbutton. Best news - it's made by Carling. I had to buy a whole pile of them (minimum orders) but I'll be recieving them by march 30 and we'll see what we have. Oslo sent me a sample of their current rocker in that cutout size but I wasn't impressed. Contact me if you have interest.....Al
