What are you building BTW? Are you changing drives?
I am using weiands on Gen 6 454's. We are shooting for high 500hp range. I will keep the TRS drives. The boat is very light and getting lighter so I am not to worried about drive reliabilty. The Trannies I will run tell they blow up and then pull them and put in BW trannies. Hey maybe I will run one Merc Tranny and one BW tranny for a poor mans stagger

Sorry CBlakeNS, but someone DOES have them on a Formula ... ME! The 1999 382 Poker Run Special. And they do look really cool! Sorry I can't post pics (still no digital camera). I'll see if my brother can pull a pic from the file and post it.

I like the scoops alot, but there are a couple of minor drawbacks:

1.) Less room for 'kinis on the hatch, and the wide loads don't fit between the scoops.
2.) In rough seas on Lake Erie with a cross wind, I've had enough spray enter the scoops to bog the motors down momentarily. I picked up a couple foam plugs for this.
3.) They let so much air in at speed that fumes from the engine compartment are forced up the side coamings into the cabin.
4.) Be careful so no one steps on them ... it will spider the fiberglass. I'm going to see if I can get some of the "NO STEP" stickers they put on aircraft wings for my scoops.

Red Dog if you can get me some pictures that would be great.

Oh and how is it a bad thing that "wide loads don't fit btween them"

The style of boating that we do we rarely just lay out. Ussually it is pull up to the beach and hop off and hang out in the water so...

Any solution has to keep the boat area of the hatch stock as I plan to put the old motors back in when and if I ever sell this thing. I would assume that most new owners would want the pad back on.

Sounds like a secondary feature of the scoops is a chick filter!

If the azz doesn't fit between the scoops, they aren't allowed on the boat.

And if the hips don't fit between the two bolsters, they definately don't make it down into the cabin!
